PLANTSOON

As part of the FullCircle project, all partner schools were given access to the Plantsoon platform, a digital tool that helps students document, explore and share the green spaces they create. By combining physical garden elements with smart QR-coded labels, the platform added a new dimension to school greening projects, encouraging students to actively engage with their environment and follow its development over time.

Students registered plants, trees, garden zones and infrastructure elements on the platform, creating a living digital map of their school campus. Each feature received a unique label that allowed users to track its growth and discover its story. By scanning a QR code, visitors could access information about plant species, their origin, ecological value and practical uses. Depending on the context, labels could also reveal the history of a place, explain construction materials, or highlight the cultural and symbolic meaning of specific features.

The platform made outdoor learning more accessible and engaging. Instead of studying nature only through textbooks, students explored, photographed and documented the living environment around them. This hands-on approach strengthened environmental awareness while simultaneously developing digital skills. Teachers could easily integrate the platform into regular lessons, turning school gardens into interactive learning spaces.

Plantsoon also connected the partner schools beyond their own campuses. Students could follow the progress of greening projects in other countries, compare approaches and learn from one another’s experiences. In this way, local actions became part of a broader international learning community.

More than simply a plant database, Plantsoon became a tool for storytelling, exploration and inclusion. By documenting both living elements, such as plants and pollinator habitats, and non-living features, such as benches, outdoor classrooms and playground installations, the platform captured the full story of each campus transformation. Multilingual content and mobile-friendly access ensured that these green spaces could be explored and appreciated by the widest possible audience.
