The Heat is On: Circularity in Green Management, Infrastructure and Nutrition in VET Schools Across Climatic Conditions.

THE CHALLENGE

The 21st century confronts us with major climate and sustainability challenges that require us to rethink how we use resources, materials and energy in our daily lives. Education plays a crucial role in preparing young people to address these challenges and contribute to a more sustainable future.

The FullCircle project supports vocational education and training (VET) schools in developing circular ways of thinking and working. By connecting sustainable green management, circular infrastructure and healthy nutrition, the project empowers students and teachers to become active agents of change within their schools and local communities.

Through innovative learning approaches, FullCircle contributes to future-proof VET curricula that respond to environmental, social and economic challenges.

Through workshops, learning mobilities, community-building activities and a Living Lab approach, FullCircle engaged more than 250 students from 10 VET schools across 7 countries. Working in multidisciplinary teams, students designed and implemented hands-on sustainability initiatives that responded to the needs of their schools and communities. By combining circular thinking, creativity and collaboration, they transformed ideas into practical actions and experienced sustainability as a lived reality rather than an abstract concept.

The project has produced two educational packages on Circular Design and Outdoor Education, providing practical tools and learning resources that can be implemented by schools across Europe. In addition, the partnership developed workshop formats covering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate action, nutrition and health, and stakeholder engagement, while also creating a digital mapping of the green designs developed throughout the project.

By fostering collaboration between students, teachers and local stakeholders, FullCircle has strengthened knowledge, skills and awareness related to climate action and circularity. The project demonstrates the social and economic value of implementing green initiatives within school environments and contributes to broader societal goals, including healthier lifestyles, stronger community engagement and a more sustainable future.
